"For a book I couldn’t finish, I enjoyed this most of the time." — Also how I felt when I tried Henry Miller earlier this year.

I may even try another one of his books besides Tropic of Cancer at some point…but not anytime soon.

I read the Passenger and Stella Maris back when they were released... I don't recall there being much of a reveal at all. I cannot really recommend the books.

If you ever want to do more Agatha Christie, "The Murder of Roger Ackyroyd" is probably the other canonical one. It may work best if you've read a chunk of "regular" Poirot books but either way it's very good.

Yeah, I really do like Suttree and Blood Meridian and All the Pretty Horses, and I’ve read a few others, so I feel qualified to say that it’s fine to give up on McCarthy books when they’re as plotless as The Passenger.

I’ll read the other Christie book! I’d like to get a little more of a sense of her style but I’m not interested in completing her books or anything like that. I liked Ross McDonald’s Lew Archer book The Underground Man so much that I thought I might read the 16 books that led up to it…I got through two and realized that McDonald was still a good writer but I just didn’t need to read that many detective novels.
